StartUp stories: An interview on Bubbue Laundry App



So in resent times, we have seen the emergence of very great startup endeavors, comprising of founders , who were mostly student composed that have created impact filled products and developed great Minimum Viable products that has provided jobs and increased the Gross National Profits of most countries. Very good examples are Facebook, Reddit , twitch, flutterwave, Piggyvest and a lot more from internationals and Nigerians. 

So in essence , we have seen how valuable it can be for different individuals to come up with solutions that introduces huge community value and great human dignity.

In the same vein, we have seen quite a huge development in the tech industry in Nigeria. And the industry is growing in such a way that people such as Jack Dorsey of Twitter and Mark Zuckerberg have decided on huge investments for the country tech ecosystem. And in case you are not aware, on 2019 financial stat, Nigerian entrepreneurs raised over $1.3 billion from various venture investments.This signifies that, that is where the funds are going now!(smiles

Mpress, a press startup telling startups stories from cradle, followed the startup stories in the city of Akure, which has an observable emerging tech ecosystem in the industry. 

We had an interview with Bamidele, who happens to be a co-founder of a laundry tech startup in Akure, Federal University of Technology Akure vicinity to be specific. And the result of the interview, is one of such that we would love to share with you. The lessons, challenges, profits and growth is something worth taking note of and gaining insights about.

Bubbue was started with the idea of creating Uber for Laundry sector. Its intentions was to democratize the way laundry business is being done , according to Bamidele, co-founder of Bubbue.

They kick-started the startup by building a mobile application that was the overall minimum viable product of the company. The app was downloaded by a huge number of users which were majorly the student populace. But it received not quite a welcoming usage with elderly people in the community. And this is owing to but many issues .

For our information, Bubbue has currently stopped its service provision , as the co-founder has said that they found out that the model of democratization in the laundry industry wouldn't work.


Here are a summary of the various challenges in the laundry tech industry as observed by Bamidele, co-founder of Bubbue laundry App:


1. Local service providers had customer loyalties
               Its believed that compared to Uber for cars, where the customers does not have any major or mandated loyalty towards the driver, such wasn't the case with the laundry business. The laundry industry worked on a loyalist ground such that the customers do not believe in having many laundry service providers rather just one person who have proven his/herself reliable over a long span of time.
Owing to this observable fact, Bubbue had challenges with on-boarding new laundry service providers. Bamidele would later say , " we overlooked that challenge"

2. Categorization in customer service provision
                Another major factor, was the fact that it was obvious that there was about three categories of customers who patronizes the laundry service industry. These guys are divided into the Rich community, the average community and the ...
